General Info

Built in the year 1673, the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple (aka Temple of Green Cloud) is the oldest Chinese temple in Malaysia practicing Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism, (Three Doctrinal Systems) in Melaka, the UNESCO World Heritage Site. The temple has everything to keep you engaged, i.e. from ornate roofs to carved and painted murals of Guan Yin, the Goddess of Mercy. These murals have been recovered with old techniques.

Getting there

The temple is located opposite to Jonker Street in close reach to Red Square’s Stadthuys. From Melaka Sentral Station, hop on Bus 17 to Jonker Street and you can get to the temple easily on foot.

You can visit temple at any time of the year. During Lunar New Year, the temple remains open for extended hours. Be sure to visit the temple when prayers take place in afternoon to get the full flair of the place.
