The Royal Malaysia Police Museum beautifully pays tribute to Malaysia police force by showing its history. Located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, the Royal Malaysian Police Museum exhibits the Royal Malaysia Police since inception under British colonial empire till date. The Kuala Lumpur Royal Police Museum features a great collection of exhibits and artefacts explaining the history and role of Royal Malaysia Police since its beginning. Since 1997, the Royal Police Museum has been located at 5, Jalan Perdana, which was used as the Mess for Senior Police Officers.
The exhibits in Royal Malaysian Police Museum are categorized in 3 galleries –
The first gallery, at the entrance, exhibits the process of policing on the early days of Malay Sultanas. Walk through the old Malacca streets to learn how policing was done during the period of Dutch and Portuguese colonial eras. Then, you can head to the British era where RMP of today has been originated. You can see police uniforms over the ages with other artifacts like ceramic soup tureens used by the police officers of Straits Settlements during the 1820s in Penang.
On the next gallery, you will learn the evolution of police forces over the centuries during the history of Malaysia, including the Federation Malay States, Straits Settlements, Sabah and Sarawak, and Unfederated Malay States.
Some of the major attractions are daily use items of the earlier police forces, including a pith helmet, ancient typewriter, drinking water filter, notebooks, revolver, fire extinguisher, and buttons.
You can also see the models of police bikes and vehicles on display. It also has the beautiful armory room having police firearms (including rifles, revolvers, grenades, automatic weapons etc.) and arms used by last generation of evils (such as organized criminals, Communist Terrorists (CT), and triads), including knives, knuckledusters, swords, sticks, etc.
The last gallery exhibits the struggle and sacrifices against Communist Terrorists and Malayan Emergency, as well as the success of Special Branch to defeat the enemies. You can also find some amazing displays on the role of police in dealing with organized crime, forgery operations, syndicate’s drugs, and to bust triads (secret societies).
