Fort Canning Park is more than just a historical monument. It is a place which was once ruled by Malay royalty in medieval era, where British surrendered to the Japanese invaders during World War II. Some of the biggest music acts in the world are now played to attract audiences. Fort Canning Park is literally more than simply a green landscape. It is an entryway to the relics which belonged to days of yore and fascinating and amazing historical insights.
In this place, a lot of events have taken place in the hilltop of one of the historical landmarks of the nation. Located in the heart of Singapore, the Fort Canning Park tour is easy to access from Orchard Road, the well-known shopping belt. The National Museum of Singapore is located just behind the park.
Fort Canning Park is stretched over 18 hectares of lush green landscapes in the heart of business district in Singapore. Along with Madras and Kapok Thorn trees, you can also witness a well known community event space and nature trails in this historic landmark. The iconic hill of the park serves as a well-known vantage point for 14th century fortresses built by Malay rulers and it may have served as a well-known trading hub. A command center and underground bunker, Battle Box was the site during World War II in the park when Singapore decided to surrender to the invaders of Japan. Today, you can see the bunker with Japanese Morse code on its walls and it serves the tourists as museum which exhibits events happened during the Battle of Singapore.
There are also beautiful gothic gates on the park grounds, which are a spice garden with nutmeg and cloves, new Fort Canning Arts Center, ruins from the first botanic garden in the city, the British Command Far East Headquarters (which are now turned a 5-star Hotel Fort Canning), a sculpture garden, and the Pinacotheque de Paris, first Asian offshoot of well-known Paris museum (having standard collections of works and rotating exhibits by artisans like Rembrandt and Monet), which are quite rare in Southeast Asia.
