Sipadan National Park is the leading diving destination in Malaysia. Located just off Sabah east coast in Celebes Sea, Sipadan National Park enjoys a great status due to its great location just in the heart of Indo-Pacific basin and it belongs to one of the richest marine habitats in the world. Barracuda point is the first diving attraction here and it really does justice to its name. Sipadan is a small, paradisiacal and military island. It has amazing marine life with sharks, turtles, trigger fish, Jack Fish, bumper head and so much to explore.
Sipadan National Park is the best diving spot in the world and it is nearly impossible to name all the fish you might see when diving here. It houses giant formations of barracudas, schools of humphead parrotfishes, turtles, big-eye trevallies, eagle rays, giant mantas, tunas, sharks, whale sharks, hammerhead sharks, and lots of different varieties of fish. As compared to other destinations in Malaysia, prices for diving are quite higher because of so many marine creatures to see here. Avoid diving with diving schools running without permits. You may dive every day from 6am to 4pm. Night dives are not permitted here. Book our Pulau Sipadan Tour Package to enjoy diving here.
It is not easy to get around Sipadan. You can stay at nearby islands of Kapalai and Mabul by booking our Mabul Island Tour package. Only a few people may dive in a day in this island. It allows only 120 dives on permit. So, be sure to get your diving permit earlier. Book a non-diving or diving package to the island to get your permit.
You can enjoy diving at any time of the year as Sipadan Island has no low season. However, weather can be uneasy from January to March. So, you might see more currents while diving. You can get up to 50m of visibility from April to June. Turtles usually lay eggs on the beaches from May to August.
You can take direct flight to Tawau from Kuala Lumpur, which runs every day. Take a minivan or taxi which takes one hour to reach Semporna, a small town, where you can easily reach Sipadan through the jetty. The speed boat takes around 1 hour. If you book Malaysia Honeymoon Tour Package, you can easily transport to Semporna.
